Detroit Helping our Youth® - Say No to Gun Violence
Helping our Youth programs bring to life the focus on "our voices, our issues, our words."

Community Voices Program unites schools across the City and performance venues around the country. We bring together young people from different racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds; challenge them to address difficult issues that affect youth; and partner with them to produce solutions filled with their energy and creativity.

Helping our Youth vehicles for communicating these issues include leadership training workshops and courses, original live musical and theatrical performances, community improvement projects, community-based workshops, leadership conferences and youth-directed and facilitated dialogue sessions. All Helping our Youth programs are youth-driven – created for youth by youth – to ensure they reflect the real needs, ideas, and visions of youth.

In 2007, more than 200 youth participated directly in Helping our Youth programs, and Helping our Youth performances, workshops, and community improvement projects touched the lives of tens of thousands of additional young people.
